PMR Preview: Katy Holland

This month's PMR Preview focuses on our jack-of-all-trades team member, Katy Holland. Having worked in many of our departments, Katy understands how everyone else's job contributes to the bigger picture. We sat down with her to find out a little more about her background and where she dreams of heading back for some vacation time.

What's your job title?

I was unofficially given the title of “Swiss Army Knife” many years ago by Tom Bernhard, and I think that still reigns true. I have had the opportunity to work in pretty much every aspect within PMR! Receptionist, Job Follow-Up, Beverage, Smallwares, Outside Sales, Inside Support, Social Media, Salesforce, CRM, and the list goes on and on….and on…and on. ; )

Currently, my focus is on the Orders Channel, processing orders and helping manage our CRM system.

How long have you been with PMR?

10 years.

How did you get started in the foodservice industry?

I was looking for a new job/career path after college and a recruiter reached out to me for a position at PMR. She saw my resume for a different job that I had applied for and thought I would be a good fit. I would have to say . . . she was right!

What do you like best about the industry?

No two days are the same. There are always new challenges and ways to use your critical thinking skills (especially these days)! I have also met some pretty amazing people in this industry!

Do you have a favorite food or beverage?

Pasta/cheese of any kind and water/wine. My Italian roots are showing.

What's the best compliment someone has given you?

That I have a beautiful heart.

If you could go back in time, what year would you travel and why?

I would love to travel back to the mid-late 800s AD and visit the Vikings. Just a visit, though. I very much love the 21st Century.

What is your favorite vacation destination, and why?

Jade Mountain, St. Lucia! I’ve only been once but look it up and you will see why it’s my favorite. “When can we go back?!” is a daily thought.

Do you have a favorite quote or inspirational saying that you'd like to share with us?

"Work smarter, not harder."

"In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life. It goes on." -- Robert Frost
