PMR Preview: Mary Roberts

We hope you're enjoying our PMR Preview series as much as we're enjoying sharing it with you. In addition to being knowledgeable and industry leaders, they're also a lot of fun!

This month's spotlight is on one of our Principals, Mary Roberts. Only supposed to be working with a foodservice rep for a temporary time, she fell in love with the industry and has been with it ever since. Let's learn a little more about Mary and why she has some prehistoric thoughts.

PMR Mary Roberts Family

What's your job title?

Salesperson, Sales Manager, Principal, COO – take your pick!

How long have you been with PMR?

9 years

How did you get started in the foodservice industry?

I worked in various restaurants as a hostess or server in my teens and twenties, but the real story comes after college. After I graduated, I was working through a temp agency while searching for my career path. They placed me at a dealer, Tennessee Restaurant Equipment Sales, for a 2-week stint to answer the phone. It’s now been 24 years and I’m still in the industry.

What do you like best about this industry?

I like building relationships, solving problems, being a resource for others and that every day is a new challenge. I genuinely enjoy Monday mornings.

Do you have a favorite food or beverage?

That’s a tough one for me because I like so many things. For the beverage, I basically go from coffee to water to red wine. I gravitate towards spicy foods . . . all types.

What's the best compliment someone has given you?

Several people have told me they see me as the heart of PMR. It’s nice to hear that some people view me in that light.

If you could go back in time, what year would you go to and why?

My academic background is in Prehistoric Archaeology, so I’d love to go back 100,000 years to the time of the Neanderthals.

What is your favorite vacation destination?
The Isle of Capri, which is off the coast of Italy. The natural beauty of the rugged landscape and electric blue water coupled with the rich Italian culture is hard to beat.
Do you have a favorite quote or inspirational saying that you'd like to share with us?
"Don’t cry because it’s over; smile because it happened." –- Dr. Seuss
