PMR Preview: Shannon Steward

Our PMR Preview continues with us talking to our Chain Sales Principal, Shannon Steward. Shannon has been with PMR for three decades and started with us right out of college. We chatted with him about many things, including what excites him about the industry and what his favorite food (followed by his dessert of choice) is.

What's your job title?

Chain Sales

How long have you been with PMR?

32 years

How did you get started in the foodservice industry?

By complete accident!! I needed a job and PMR needed someone cheap. I had just finished college, started at PMR, and never worked anywhere else. So 32 years later…here I am and I have enjoyed every minute of it.

Do you do sales for a specific area?

I’m mainly responsible for chain sales. I enjoy the challenge to work collaboratively with the customer to find a specific solution that solves their problems.

What's one thing clients don't realize about your job that is important to provide them with the best service?

The most important part of my job is to KEEP PROMISES. The most important trait in our profession is to EARN TRUST. In order to earn it, you must be committed to doing what you said you would do.

What's your favorite part of the job?

I have two answers but not in a specific order.

I truly enjoy the friendships and relationships I have with many of my customers. I absolutely enjoy working with the PMR TEAM. It’s the best collection of talented, respected, and honest people that sincerely want to help our customers and each other.

Do you have a favorite food or beverage?

Pizza. Followed by Tums as dessert.

Tell us one place you've wanted to go to but haven't made it there yet.

The Amalfi Coast of Italy.

Do you have a favorite quote or inspirational saying that you'd like to share with us?

This is the beginning of a new day. God has given me this day to use as I will. I can waste it or use it for good. What I do today is very important because I’m exchanging a day of my life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever, leaving something in its place I have traded for it. I want it to be a gain, not loss; good, not evil; success, not failure in order that I shall not forget the price I paid for it.
